The family of a cab driver who died after an out-of-control vehicle crashed into a picnic table at Victoria International Airport on Friday says the tragedy has left them “pretty broken.”

On Friday, 56-year-old Ramesh Sharma died in hospital after the vehicle careened into a picnic area at the airport at about 1 p.m. local time. He had been playing cards at a table where up to eight people were seated, according to the province’s ambulance service.

The cabdriver who died after a horrific crash at Victoria International Airport is described as a devoted father and husband who worked hard to make sure his three children had a good education.

Ramesh Sharma, 57, died Friday night from injuries received in the crash earlier that day.
