On Thursday, the London Evening Standard reported that jurors at the Old Bailey — London’s central criminal court — heard how former air steward, Youseff Ahmed Wahid, 42, slit his roommate’s throat and stabbed Kama repeatedly before stuffing her body in a suitcase that was later abandoned on a luggage rack in Heathrow Airport’s parking lot.

 NIAGARA FALLS, Ont. — Police have arrested a man in connection with an April sexual assault in which a woman was attacked by an intruder while she slept in her home.

The Wednesday arrest was made possible by DNA evidence, police say, alleging that DNA gathered at two separate crime scenes links a 24-year-old Niagara Falls man to both the disturbing sexual assault and a May 25 break-in in the city.

Nasrin Toreihi, 47, was fatally stabbed in her Thornhill home Monday. The Special Investigations Unit have identified Kaveh Sabouri Tabatabaei, 49, as the man York Regional Police gunned down in the home after the fatal knife attack.

Details are slowly coming out about Monday’s deadly encounter between York Regional Police officers and a 49-year-old man who stabbed his wife to death in their Thornhill home.

The province’s Special Investigations Unit, which is probing the police shooting, now says two cops opened fire on the man around 11 p.m. at 90 Cottonwood Ct., near Don Mills Rd. and John St.

Once inside the home, it’s believed the officers were confronted by a knife-wielding man, now officially identified by the SIU as Kaveh Sabouri Tabatabaei.

“During this interaction two officers discharged their firearms,” SIU spokesman Frank Phillips said Wednesday in a prepared statement. “Mr. Tabatabaei sustained a fatal gunshot injury.”

The dead man’s wife, Nasrin Toreihi, 47, was found in the three-storey home suffering from fatal stab wounds.

Members of the Special Investigations Unit are piecing together details of what happened between a driver and plain-clothed police officers Sunday morning in Scarborough.

A 32-year-old man identified by the SIU as Shane Maracle was driving in the area of Pharmacy and Conroy Aves. at around 2 a.m. when police attempted to stop him. He did not stop and pull over, according to the SIU.

“There was an interaction involving one of the Toronto police services officers,” said Jasbir Brar, SIU spokeswoman.
