It has been more than three years since two Israeli tank shells ripped through Dalal and Shatha Abuelaish’s third-floor Gaza apartment, killing three of their sisters.

Back then, the family’s wrenching story gripped the globe as frenzied pleas for help from their father, a well-regarded Palestinian doctor who had long advocated for peace, were played live over Israeli television. For many, the Abuelaishes plight became a central symbol of the invasion, which killed 1,300 Palestinians and 13 Israelis.

Sitting a world away in the living room of their North Toronto home on Tuesday, the young women, both computer engineering students at the University of Toronto, talk of honouring their siblings’ memories.

OTTAWA—Police have named a suspect in the shocking case where dismembered body parts were mailed to Ottawa, including the headquarters of the governing Conservative party.

Montreal police said Wednesday that 29-year-old Rocco Luka Magnotta is wanted in connection with a grisly homicide and dismemberment that some news reports said was videotaped.

A man by that same name has a huge presence on the Internet — as a low-budget adult film actor and for controversial videos he has posted online in the past.

A nationwide warrant has been issued for Magnotta, whom police say also goes by the names Eric Clinton Newman and Vladimir Romanov. He is white, 1.78 metres tall, and weighs 61 kilos. He has black hair and blue eyes, they said.

Peel Regional Police Inspector George Koekkoek, the officer in charge of Homicide and Missing Persons Bureau, talks about the discovery of the remains of 27-year-old Poonam Litt, who was reported missing from Brampton in 2009, during a news conference at Peel Regional Police Headquarters in Brampton, Ontario Thursday April 12, 2012.

Another relative has been charged in the 2009 slaying of Brampton mother Poonam Litt.

Skinder Punia, 42, the victim’s brother-in-law, faces a charge of accessory after the fact to murder, Peel police announced Wednesday.

His arrest comes more than a month after Mr. Punia’s wife, Mandeep Punia, was charged with second-degree murder in the crime and the victim’s father-in-law, Kulwant Singh Litt, was accused of being an accessory after the fact.

Police found Ms. Litt’s skeletal remains in February after the 27-year-old woman disappeared three years earlier, leaving behind a young daughter.

Investigators allege Ms. Punia killed Ms. Litt on Feb. 4, 2009, a day before the victim failed to report for work at a local dentist’s office.
