A YouTube video of the arrest of a Toronto man on a basketball court by five Toronto police officers — showing multiple baton and elbow blows — has generated 48,000 views and nearly 500 comments, both pro- and anti-police.

Police are searching for a suspect after three women were sexually assaulted on the York University campus.

All three assaults on July 5 and 6 occurred as the victims left a TTC bus stop in front of Vari Hall, a student concourse. Only one of the victims is a student, police said.

In each case a man attempted to engage the victims in conversation before they were assaulted.

The victims described the attacker as a 6-foot black man with a thin build and a short black Afro haircut. He was last seen wearing dark jeans, a green shirt and a blue and orange baseball cap.

Years before Abdulle Elmi was gunned down in a quiet Etobicoke street, his family decided it would be safer for the University of Minnesota student to leave his troubled Minneapolis neighbourhood and move to Toronto with his grandmother.

Elmi, 25, died of multiple gunshot wounds to the torso Thursday morning. He was the cousin of Eaton Centre shooting victim Ahmad Hassan.
