When the letter carrier arrived at the yellow police tape on Danzig Street — where the detached, tidy 1960s bungalows give way to two-storey government-owned row houses — she stopped. Her bags hung empty. She got in her car to drive away.
“I knew exactly where it was,” she said Tuesday morning, nodding toward the strip of Toronto Community Housing units where a shootout Monday night left two bystanders dead and two dozen wounded. “I didn’t even bring their mail.” Having walked this route seven years, she said, speaking of this social housing, “I could tell you stories for hours.”
