Senior spends Christmas in hospital after home invasion

TORONTO — Relatives of a senior marking his 78th birthday in hospital Monday fear brutal home invaders targeted him and his wife for Christmas cash intended for their grandchildren.

The couple was sleeping early Saturday when two men burst into their home around 4:30 a.m., daughter-in-law Nadia Iantorno told QMI Agency, asking that the seniors’ names not be published. The intruders demanded cash and jewelry, then forced the couple onto a floor and tied them with clothing, police said.

Before fleeing, one thug pounded the man’s face with his fists, Det.-Const. Steve Blenkhorn said.

A man was shot dead during a home invasion-style robbery in Mississauga at a house on Corkstone Glade, near Fieldgate Dr. and Rathburn Rd. E., around 12:25 a.m. Friday.

A man was shot dead after allegedly breaking into a Mississauga home with two other men who remain at large.

Peel Regional Police were called to a home on Corkstone Glade shortly after midnight Friday after a 911 call about a home invasion.

The homeowner, Mike Vrga, had found three intruders, two armed, in his house, his two young children and wife at home.

MONTREAL — A Quebec Court Judge has ordered that a violent repeat offender — who started a string of six home invasions the day after he left a federal penitentiary — be evaluated as a potential dangerous offender.

Toronto: Three Black males sought for home invasion and robbery

Police request assistance with robbery investigation

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of robbery investigation.
It is reported that:
− on Tuesday, April 24, 2012, at 12:45 p.m., the victim and his wife returned home to their
apartment building in the Guildwood Parkway/Livingston Road area
− the victim attempted to unlock the door to his apartment and the door suddenly closed,
− a man, inside the apartment, punched the victim in the mouth, causing him to fall to the
ground
− the man ran out of the apartment, followed by two other men
− all three men were seen fleeing down the north stairwell of the building
It is further reported that:
− the men ransacked the victim’s apartment and stole a Toronto Maple Leaf Limited Edition
Watch, with a serial number of 69/4999 and other property value at $10,000
The suspect are described as:
1) black, 25−30 with a heavy build. He was last seen wearing a black hoodie under a black
leather jacket, a black baseball cap with a Toronto Blue Jay logo, black pants and black
running shoes.
2) black, 20−25. He was last seen wearing a black vinyl jacket with a white logo on the left
arm, a black hoodie, a black baseball cap with a Blue Jays logo
3) black, 20−25. He was last seen wearing a black cloth jacket, faded blue jeans and a black
baseball cap with a Blue Jays Logo.

Two men charged in break−and−enter investigation, Flyer allegedly used by accused released

On Friday, April 27, 2012, members of 42 Division and Peel Regional Police arrested two men
in a break−and−enter investigation.
It is alleged that:
− two men were arrested while in the commission of a break−and−enter in the City of
Mississauga
− the two men are part of an organized group believed to be responsible for a number of
break−ins throughout Toronto, Peel Region and York Region
− flyers were used as part of a ruse during the break−and−enters
Police are interested in speaking to anyone who has received a flyer, or who may have
spoken to anyone at their door with a flyer, from M.V. Construction offering spring clean−up
services. A copy of the flyer has been released.
Marius Voicu, 20, of Toronto, is charged with:
1. eight counts of Break−and−Enter Commit
2. Break−and−Enter with Intent
3. three counts of Attempt Break−and−Enter with Intent
3. Possession of Burglar’s Tools
Roustam Rafiev, 28, of Toronto, is charged with:
1. Break−and−Enter Commit
2. Possession of Burglar’s Tools
The investigation is ongoing.

Ottawa police have charged two men in connection with a series of commercial break and enters across the region.

In early January, a series of overnight commercial break-ins across Ottawa were committed by two suspects wearing balaclavas. In all the break-ins, the suspects gained access by smashing the front entrance with a sledgehammer.
